L'investimento consiste nel rinnovamento delle attrezzature ad alto contenuto tecnologico. Presso il Servizio di Radioterapia dell'Ospedale di Città di Castello, grazie a questo intervento, è stata finanziata l'acquisizione di un nuovo acceleratore lineare di ultima generazione, in sostituzione del sistema ormai obsoleto. La nuova apparecchiatura è in grado di effettuare trattamenti radioterapici ad elevata complessità, utilizzando le più moderne e avanzate tecniche di trattamento: la Radioterapia a Intensità Modulata sia di tipo statico (IMRT) che volumetrico (VMAT), l’Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) in 3 e 4 dimensioni (correggendo il movimento del volume tumorale con l’atto respiratorio), la Radioterapia Adattiva (ART), la Radioterapia Stereotassica e Radiochirurgia. L’acceleratore dispone di fasci di fotoni con i quali vengono erogate alte dosi in tempi brevissimi ed è dotato di un sistema di collimazione ad alta risoluzione e di un lettino robotizzato a 6 gradi di libertà, che consentono la massima conformazione e accuratezza. Dispone inoltre di un sistema di dosimetria in vivo che permetterà di verificare la dose effettivamente erogata al paziente.

The investment involves the renewal of high-tech equipment. At the Radiotherapy Service of the Città di Castello Hospital, thanks to this initiative, funding has been provided for the acquisition of a new state-of-the-art linear accelerator, replacing the now obsolete system. The new equipment is capable of performing highly complex radiotherapy treatments, using the most modern and advanced treatment techniques: Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy, both static (IMRT) and volumetric (VMAT), 3D and 4D Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) (correcting the tumor volume movement with breathing), Adaptive Radiotherapy (ART), Stereotactic Radiotherapy, and Radiosurgery. The accelerator features photon beams that deliver high doses in very short times and is equipped with a high-resolution collimation system and a 6-degrees-of-freedom robotic table, ensuring maximum conformity and accuracy. It also includes an in vivo dosimetry system that will allow verification of the actual dose delivered to the patient.
